Did you know that happiness is contagious? Science has proven it to be true!
Our head psychologist, Mary Magalotti and the team of Life Resolutions psychologists aim to help all Australians to work towards happiness and be able to share that happiness. Our director Jodie Brenton works to make mental health services available to all Australians.
Happiness is Contagious
A study found that happiness can spread through social networks and affect large amounts of people. It was also found that sadness does not spread as widely through social networks as happiness does. Happiness was found to spread from one person to another, then continue on spreading throughout the social network. It was found that living within 2km of a friend view to be happy can increase one’s happiness by approximately 25%. When the initial source of happiness is spread, it is reported then to increase the happiness of a third party by 10%. The theory suggests that happiness can spread through 6-degrees of the initial source.
Living with an intimate partner that is happy can boost your happiness by 8%, and your neighbours can boost your happiness by 34%.
While we cannot be happy all the time, we can take steps to become happier overall. Being physically active, eating healthier and taking time to be social has been shown to help improve one’s mental wellbeing, boosting their happiness.
Here at Life Resolutions, we aim to help all Australians work towards happiness. A driving factor for Jodie Brenton is to see all Australians have the ability to learn the skills to live a happy and healthy life. Mary Magalotti and our team of psychologists offer a range of services to help people on their path to happiness and mental wellbeing.
